what is afters?

afters is a multiplayer rave game. You get a flat of your own, a ride across the city, and a dance floor full of real people. It is free to play, invite only for now, and for adults (18+).

The name is what the night is called once the club shuts: back to somebody's flat until the sun is up. The game is the whole of that night, from getting ready at yours to the afters.

how a night goes

• It starts at yours. Your flat is where you pick your look and get your friends round before anybody goes anywhere. It is yours to do up: every piece of furniture goes where you put it.
• One ride takes everybody. Order a ride on your phone in the game, and whoever is at yours arrives in the same room as you.
• Four venues. The Warehouse, two rooms with a smoking area and a queue outside. The Pit, a round room built about the decks. Blackstone, the big hall with a stage and a headline booth. The Ring, a round room inside one LED screen with the decks in the middle.
• The floor. The people on it are real. Dance, talk by typing or out loud to whoever is stood near you, add the ones you get on with as friends, and message them after.
• The decks. There are decks anybody can step up to. Mix on your keyboard, on your phone, or plug in your own DJ controller. The room hears your set as you play it.
• Then it's afters. When the club is done the night goes back to somebody's flat. Some nights that flat is yours.

how to get in

afters is invite only while it is being built. Leave your email at the door and an access code is sent there when there is room. Codes go out in waves. After that you sign in with your email and a six-figure code. There is no password.

what you need

A phone or a computer with a recent browser. There is nothing to download. An iPhone app is on the way.

what it costs

Nothing. afters is free to play and nothing in it is sold today.

the house rules

afters is for adults, so the door asks your date of birth once. There is no tolerance for abuse: you can mute, block or report anybody, and a person reads every report. The whole of it is in the terms, and what is kept about you is in privacy.
