These are the terms for afters: the game, the afters app for iPhone and this site. Going in means you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not go in. They are written to be read; the short version is the house rules below.

afters is made by FERAL. The company you are agreeing with is Artisan Deli Market Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 13546629, Preston Park House, South Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 6SB. Write to hey@feralclo.com.

Adults only

afters is for people aged 18 and over. The door asks your date of birth once. You must answer truthfully. If we learn that an account belongs to somebody under 18 we close it.

Your account

• afters is invite only. An invitation is for you and is not passed on.
• You sign in with your email address and a code we send there. Keep your email account safe: whoever can read it can sign in as you.
• One account each. Do not use somebody else's, and do not make another after yours has been closed.
• You can delete your account whenever you like: in the game, open your phone, then Settings, then Delete my account. What goes and what is kept is in privacy.

The house rules

Everybody you meet in afters is a real person. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive players. That means, in chat, voice, messages, your name, your profile, your photo and anything you upload:

• No harassment, bullying, threats or stalking. If somebody blocks you, leave them alone.
• No hate: nothing that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or health.
• Nothing sexual involving anybody under 18, ever. Nothing sexual sent to somebody who has not asked for it. No pornography.
• Nothing illegal. No offering, selling or arranging real drugs, weapons or anything else unlawful, and no helping others to.
• No encouraging anybody to hurt themselves or anybody else.
• No sharing other people's private information, and no pretending to be somebody you are not.
• No spam, scams or advertising.
• No cheating: no bots, no modified copies of the game, no getting round a block, a mute or a ban, and no attacking the game or its servers.

Mute, block and report

Tap a player, a chat line or a message, then Mute, Block or Report. A block stops everything between you, both ways. A report comes to us with the reported player's most recent lines.

We read every report. Where one shows these rules being broken we act within 24 hours: what was posted is taken down and the player who posted it is removed from afters. We may also act without a report. We do not have to give a warning first, and for the worst things (anything involving children, threats of violence) we may tell the police.

If you think we got it wrong, write to us and a person will look again.

What is yours, and what you let us do with it

• What you make and upload stays yours: your records, your photo, what you write.
• You let us keep it, carry it and show or play it inside afters to the people the game shows it to, for as long as it is there. That is all we do with it. We do not sell it and we do not use it outside afters.
• Only upload a record if you made it or hold the rights needed to let it be played in afters. When you list a record for other players you confirm that, and you are responsible if it is not true.
• When you play on the decks, the room hears your set as you play it. Only play records you have the right to play to other people.
• If a record of yours is in afters and should not be, write to hey@feralclo.com with its title and where you saw it. We take it down while we look.

What is ours

The game, its rooms, characters, looks, sounds, name and logo belong to us or to the people who license them to us. You may play afters for your own enjoyment. You may not copy it, take it apart, resell it or use anything from it commercially without asking first.

It is a game

• afters is fiction set on a night out. The drinks, the cigarettes and the things its characters hand out are invented. Nothing in afters is advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to do anything outside the game.
• Some characters talk back. What they say is written by an AI service, in character. Do not rely on it for anything.
• The lights move with the music. If flashing or fast movement affects you, turn on Gentle in the game's Settings, and stop playing if you feel unwell.

Money

afters is free to play and nothing in it is sold today. If that changes, the price and the terms of the sale are shown to you before you pay, and anything bought in the iPhone app is bought through Apple.

The service

afters is new and it changes often: rooms open and close, things are added and taken away, and sometimes it is down. We do not promise it is always there or free of faults, and we may end it. If we end it we will tell you at the address you signed in with where we reasonably can.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. You may stop at any time by deleting your account.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for what other players say or do, or for loss that was not foreseeable. afters is for private use; we are not liable for business losses.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer.

The iPhone app

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for afters or for what is in it, and has no duty to maintain or support it. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's own terms. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as far as they concern the app.

Changes

We may change these terms as afters changes. When a change matters we say so at the door or by email before it applies. The date at the foot of this page is when they last changed.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live somewhere else in the United Kingdom or in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law where you live and you may bring a claim in your own courts.
